# Viant
Use GrowthLoop audiences for Viant DSP segment membership.
Connect this destination to export audience membership onto a Viant DSP segment, for use in Viant campaigns.
This destination writes to your Viant account and is a good fit when you want to:
* Make **GrowthLoop audiences** available for Viant DSP campaigns
* Match contacts on email
* Have a Viant **Segment Name** and **Segment ID** for the export

# Prerequisites
Make sure you have:
* A Viant DSP account. See [Viant](https://www.viantinc.com/) if you need one.
* **Username** and **Password** partner credentials for GrowthLoop. Ask your Viant representative. These are not your regular Viant login.
* The **Segment Name** and **Segment ID** you will send membership to.
# Set up Viant as a destination
1. In GrowthLoop, click the **Destinations** tab on the left sidebar.
2. Click **New Destination** in the top right corner.
3. Search for **Viant** and click **Add Viant**.
4. Enter the required information, then click **Create**.
| Field | Description |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Destination Name** | Name this destination in GrowthLoop. Use a name so your team recognizes its purpose, like "Viant DSP". |
| **Sync Frequency** | Set the default export frequency (for example, daily or weekly). You can override this setting for individual exports. |
| **Username** | Partner username from your Viant representative. |
| **Password** | Partner password from your Viant representative. |
> ⚠️ Warning
>
> Use the GrowthLoop partner credentials your Viant representative provides. Do not paste a regular Viant user login.
**Viant** then appears in your list of connected destinations.
# Export to Viant
From within GrowthLoop, export from an audience. See [Export an audience](https://docs.growthloop.com/docs/export-an-audience) if you need more information on these steps.
After building or selecting an audience, click **Export**, then search for **Viant**.
## Map contact identifiers
Map **Email**. This field is required. Mapping additional identifiers can improve match rates.

This destination does not send additional personalization fields.
## Configure the export
This is where you set the campaign type and schedule for audience exports.
* **Export Name:** Defaults to the audience name. Use this to find the export in GrowthLoop.
* **Campaign type:** Choose a one-time or ongoing export.
* **Export Inclusion Criteria:** **All audience members** for a full refresh, or **Newly added audience members** for additions since the last export.
* **Schedule:** Set frequency, start date, end date, and days of the week for ongoing exports.
* **Segment Name:** Required. The Viant segment name GrowthLoop writes membership to.
* **Segment ID:** Required. The Viant segment ID for that segment.
* **Adelphic / Viant AID:** Optional. The Adelphic / Viant advertiser ID for the segment.
* **Segment ID Type:** Optional. **Userpool** for an existing DSP userpool, **Taxonomy** for an existing DSP taxonomy segment, or **Third Party** for a third-party DSP taxonomy.
# Export behavior
This is what GrowthLoop writes when you export an audience.
| Behavior | What happens |
| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **What GrowthLoop writes** | Membership on the Viant segment you named. Direction is GrowthLoop → Viant. |
| **When it runs** | GrowthLoop sends the export as a batch on the next successful run. An export that starts **Now** runs within about 15 minutes. |
| **Segment** | GrowthLoop sends rows to the **Segment Name** and **Segment ID** you entered. |
| **Match field** | Email, hashed as SHA-256. Additional mapped identifiers are included on the row. |
| **Add** | GrowthLoop inserts hashed identifiers into that segment. |
| **One-time exports** | GrowthLoop sends current membership once. |
| **Ongoing exports** | Ongoing exports add contacts who enter the audience. Viant exports do not support removals. |
| **Deletes** | GrowthLoop does not delete the Viant segment. Contacts who leave the GrowthLoop audience stay on the segment. |
# Confirm the export was successful
When the run finishes, confirm you can use the data in Viant.
* **Audience export:** Sign in to Viant, open **Identity Management**, and look up the **Segment Name** you entered.

# Troubleshooting
These are the issues we see most often. You can always email us at for help.
| Problem | Cause | Resolution |

| **You cannot create the destination** | Username or password is blank | Paste the GrowthLoop partner credentials from your Viant representative |
| **Rows fail to export** | Email is unmapped or blank | Map **Email** to a populated email column |
| **The export will not save** | **Segment Name** or **Segment ID** is blank | Enter both required segment fields |
| **You cannot find the audience** | You are searching for the GrowthLoop **Export Name** | Search Identity Management for the **Segment Name** you entered |
| **Contacts who left the audience are still in Viant** | Viant exports do not support removals | Update or suppress those contacts in Viant |
