Comparing and Excluding Audiences
This article outlines the steps necessary to use Audience Comparisons to identify pre-existing Audiences that overlap with your current audience criteria. This will also cover selecting an audience to be excluded from your criteria.
Create a New Audience and Utilize Comparisons
Select Audiences from the left rail of your GrowthLoop home screen. Click New Audience on the top right. Select the build option you would like to use. For this example, we used Marve to build an audience using a prompt.
Give your Audience a name. Add any additional filters to further narrow down your audience segmentation. In the right hand frame, select the Comparisons tab. The Top Overlap Audiences section will load automatically and present audiences in the order of most overlap to least overlap.
The color-code numeric % values next to each audience, indicate that you have previously created a similar audience with this criteria. This is to help you prevent targeting the same audience with similar campaigns and be more efficient with your budgets.
- Red - High: Greater than 66% overlap
- Yellow - Medium: Between 33% and 66% overlap
- Green - Low: Less than 33% overlap
For this example, it could be a good idea to exclude users that are in the High Churn Risk audience. The audience has only 30% overlap indicated in green. We might be using that audience in a separate journey or campaign that is active and trying to drive re-engagement. To exclude this audience, click the audience name and select Exclude.
The audience will now appear in the criteria list at the top with where not automatically applied.
To pin an audience to the top of the Comparisons section for ongoing evaluation, click the audience name from the Overlap List and select Add as target audience.
Any audiences that you have added as Target Audiences will appear as tiles with overlap % and customer count.
Click the Ellipsis at the top right of an audience tile to Exclude the audience from the current audience build. The audience can also be Removed from the pinned audience section.
