Microsoft Ads (Bing)

Learn how to setup Microsoft Ads as a destination for exports

Microsoft Ads is a pay-per-click platform that allows you to serve ads across AOL, Yahoo, Bing, and their owned/partner sites. It’s a great complement to the suite of sites included in the Google Ads family, another popular paid media option available as a GrowthLoop destination.

Requirements

To set up Microsoft Ads as a destination, you must have the following credentials :

  • A username and password for your company’s Microsoft Ads account
  • A Customer ID
  • An Account ID

You must also manually create at least one Customer Match audience in the Microsoft Ads interface. When you create a Customer Match audience in Microsoft Ads, you will be asked to agree to the Terms & Conditions. Once you have accepted these terms and manually created the Customer Match audience, GrowthLoop can successfully send audiences via the Microsoft Ads API.

If you have these credentials on hand and have previously created a Customer Match audience, you can skip down to Setting Microsoft Ads as a Destination.

Finding Your Account ID

You can find your Account ID, make sure you’re logged into Microsoft ads and visit this link. The numeric series that follows “aid=” at the end of your organization’s URL is your Account ID.

Finding Your Customer ID

Similar to the Account ID, you can also find the Customer ID in the URL. The string of numbers that appears after the tag "cid=" is your Customer ID.

Once you have your Customer and Account IDs, you’re ready to connect Microsoft Ads as an audience destination!

Once you enter these credentials, you will be redirected to the GrowthLoop application. A modal window will appear asking you to enter the following information:

  • Destination Name: A custom name for your Microsoft Ads destination.
  • Sync Frequency: The frequency at which GrowthLoop will export audiences to your destination (hourly or daily).
  • Refresh Token: DO NOT EDIT. GrowthLoop auto-populates this field based on the Microsoft Ads authentication performed in the previous step.
  • Customer ID: Your Customer ID
  • Account ID: Your Account ID

Click Create and you are set to export your first audience to Microsoft Ads! You can confirm that your Microsoft Ads account is connected by clicking Destinations on the left rail.

Finding Your Audience in Microsoft Ads

To find an exported audience in Microsoft Ads, navigate to Tools > Audiences. Your audience will land here as a Customer Match List.

NOTE: The account used to authenticate with Microsoft Ads must manually create at least one Customer Match audience in the Microsoft Ads UI before the account can be used to send via GrowthLoop (via Bulk API). When creating your first, manual Customer Match list, you are asked to agree to the Terms & Conditions. Once checked and done successfully, the GrowthLoop export process should work without issue.

Happy exporting!
