Audience Advanced Reports

Learn how to use Audience Advanced Reports to uncover deeper insights across your audience data.

Introduction

When analyzing your audiences, it’s helpful to understand not just who’s included but why they behave a certain way. Audience Advanced Reports gives you deeper visibility into your audience by surfacing dataset counts from both primary and related datasets (such as Customers, Transactions, or Events), and allowing you to break down customers by key attributes from those tables in your dataset group.

In this article, you’ll learn how to view dataset counts, create granular breakdowns, and switch between tables to explore your audience in more detail.

View Related Dataset Counts

To add counts from related tables (like Transactions or Events), follow these steps:

  1. In the right-hand panel, scroll to the Counts section.
  2. Click the + icon to add a new dataset count.
  3. In the modal, select the related table you want to measure.
  4. GrowthLoop will calculate and display the total number of related records for customers matching your audience.

Note

Use related dataset counts to understand relationships beyond the primary table, for example, total transactions, events, or purchases linked to your current audience. The primary table count (e.g., total customers) automatically appears in the top-right corner of your audience page.

Add Audience Breakdowns

Breakdowns let you explore how your audience segments across specific fields from both primary and related tables in your dataset group.

  1. In the right-hand panel, go to the Breakdowns section and click +.
  2. From the modal, select a table - you can choose the primary table (e.g., Customers) or a secondary table (e.g., Transactions, Events).
πŸ“˜

Note

The first table in the list represents your primary table, followed by any related secondary tables in your dataset group.

  1. Pick the field you’d like to use for the breakdown. Supported field types include:
    1. Numeric fields (e.g., total spend, number of purchases)
    2. Date fields (e.g., signup date, last purchase date)
    3. String and Boolean fields (e.g., city, loyalty status, active flag)
  2. GrowthLoop will generate a visual breakdown showing how your audience is distributed across the selected field.
πŸ“˜

Note

Breakdowns update dynamically as you modify your audience criteria, allowing you to see how audience segments shift in real time.

Switching Between Tables

When selecting fields for counts or breakdowns, you can easily switch between primary and related tables within your dataset group.

  1. In the right-hand panel, go to the Breakdowns section and click +.
  2. Use your trackpad to scroll horizontally if you don’t see all connected datasets.
  3. Choose another table (e.g., Transactions, Events).
  4. The available fields will automatically update based on your selection.

This makes it easy to analyze your audience from multiple perspectives - such as viewing both customer-level (from Customers) and transaction-level (from Transactions) insights without leaving the audience builder.

Wrapping Up

The Audience Advanced Reports feature gives you a complete picture of your audience by connecting insights across both primary and related tables. Use it to surface key relationships, explore attribute-level patterns, and refine your segmentation for more precise and effective targeting.
