Configure email and SMS channels

Set up GrowthLoop email and SMS channel resources, then create channel configurations that automatically provision destinations for your team.

Configure Channels for the team you are working in. When you save a channel configuration, GrowthLoop automatically creates the GrowthLoop Email or GrowthLoop SMS destination that journeys use for campaign-trigger sends.

Prerequisites

  • GrowthLoop has enabled Channels for your organization. Contact [email protected] if you do not see Channels in the sidebar.
  • Owner permission in GrowthLoop to manage channels
  • For email, a domain you can update with DNS records
  • For SMS, readiness to provision or assign a sending number

Note

Use the team toggle in the left sidebar so you create configurations and destinations in the correct team. See Manage organizations and teams.

Configure email channel resources

  1. Navigate to Channels in the left sidebar.
  2. Open Email.
  3. Configure the resources your email channel needs.

Sending domains

Sending domains verify that GrowthLoop can send email for your domain.

  1. Open Sending domains.
  2. Add a domain and enter the domain name.
  3. Add the DNS records GrowthLoop provides to your domain host.
  4. Return to GrowthLoop and click Verify.
  5. Optionally set the domain as the default sending domain.

Domain statuses show whether the domain is ready:

StatusMeaning
VerifiedThe domain is ready for sending.
PendingGrowthLoop has not verified the required DNS records yet.
ErrorVerification failed or the domain needs attention.
DisabledThe domain is not available for sending.

Link branding

Link branding lets you use a branded click-tracking domain for links in GrowthLoop email.

  1. Open Link branding.
  2. Click Add link branding.
  3. Select the authenticated sending domain.
  4. Enter the link subdomain, such as click.
  5. Choose whether to use it as the default branded link.
  6. Add the DNS records GrowthLoop provides to your domain host.
  7. Return to GrowthLoop and click Verify.

Use Make default when a verified branded link should become the default for the team. Use delete only when the branded link should no longer be available.

Sender identities

Sender identities define the from name and from email available in email channel configurations.

  1. Open Sender identities.
  2. Click Add sender.
  3. Select a verified sending domain.
  4. Enter the sender name and from email.
  5. Click Save.

Note

Sender identities need a verified sending domain. The sender email must use the selected domain.

IP addresses and warming

Use IP addresses & warming to monitor dedicated IP addresses and control automatic warming.

  1. Open IP addresses & warming.
  2. Review available IP addresses and their warming status.
  3. Click Buy IP address when your organization needs an additional dedicated IP address.
  4. Turn automatic warming on when the IP address is ready to warm.
  5. Click Refresh to pull the latest IP address status.

Note

New dedicated IP addresses may need warming before production sending. Automatic warming remains off until you enable it.

IP pools

IP pools group sending IPs so you can assign them to channel configurations.

  1. Open IP pools.
  2. Click Add pool.
  3. Enter a clear pool name.
  4. Assign the pool when you create or edit an email channel configuration.

Unsubscribe groups

Unsubscribe groups help you organize email suppression preferences.

  1. Open Unsubscribe groups.
  2. Click Add group.
  3. Enter a clear group name.
  4. Optionally set the group as the default unsubscribe group.

Configure SMS channel resources

  1. In Channels, open SMS.
  2. Configure numbers and messaging services.

Numbers and short codes

Numbers and short codes are the sender numbers available for GrowthLoop SMS.

  1. Open Numbers & short codes.
  2. Click Create number.
  3. Enter a Friendly name.
  4. Select the Country.
  5. Select the number Type, such as Local or Toll-free.
  6. Optionally enter an Area code or Digits contains value to narrow the search.
  7. Select an available number.
  8. Click Create number.

Use Refresh to pull the latest number status. Use Send test when you want to confirm a number can send.

Messaging services

Messaging services pair a purpose with one or more sender numbers and optional keyword settings.

  1. Open Messaging services.
  2. Click Create service.
  3. Enter a Messaging service name.
  4. Select a Purpose, such as Marketing or Transactional.
  5. Choose whether Advanced Opt-Out is Enabled or Disabled.
  6. If Advanced Opt-Out is enabled, review or edit the comma-separated keyword lists:
    • Opt-out keywords - Default: STOP
    • Opt-in keywords - Default: START, UNSTOP
    • Help keywords - Default: HELP
  7. Select an existing unassigned number, or buy a new number during service creation.
  8. Click Create service.

Note

GrowthLoop may follow up after service creation to complete Advanced Opt-Out setup. If Advanced Opt-Out is disabled, standard opt-out handling applies.

Create a channel configuration

Channel configurations are the named sender profiles that GrowthLoop Email and GrowthLoop SMS destinations use.

  1. In Channels, open Channel configurations.
  2. Click New channel configuration.
  3. Enter a clear Name.
  4. Select the Channel: Email or SMS.
  5. Select the Purpose: Marketing or Transactional.

Email configuration fields

For Email configurations, set:

  • Sender - Sender identity tied to a verified sending domain
  • Verified domain - Sending domain for the configuration
  • IP pool - IP pool used for delivery
  • Unsubscribe group - Optional suppression group for email sends

GrowthLoop requires a verified sending domain before you can select sender identities for an email configuration.

SMS configuration fields

For SMS configurations, set:

  • Messaging service - Messaging service with a purpose that matches the configuration
  • Sender number - Number assigned to the selected messaging service

GrowthLoop requires a messaging service and sender number before you can save an SMS configuration.

Save and test

  1. Review the configuration.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Optionally send a test from the saved configuration to confirm delivery.

Saving the configuration automatically creates a GrowthLoop Email or GrowthLoop SMS destination for the current team.

Use channel destinations in journeys

GrowthLoop Email and GrowthLoop SMS destinations are available from journey Destination nodes after you save a channel configuration.

  1. Open a journey and add a Destination node.
  2. Select GrowthLoop Email or GrowthLoop SMS.
  3. Select a template from GrowthLoop Content.
  4. Confirm the required recipient match field:
    • For GrowthLoop Email, map the recipient email field.
    • For GrowthLoop SMS, map the recipient phone number field.
  5. Optionally set the Prefix for Personalization Fields. The default is fw. If you set a prefix, use up to five letters and numbers, starting with a letter.
  6. Map personalization fields.
  7. Click Save.

Note

GrowthLoop Email and GrowthLoop SMS are campaign-trigger destinations. They do not support standard audience exports.

Verify access

  1. Stay in the team you just configured.
  2. Open a journey and add a Destination node.
  3. Confirm GrowthLoop Email or GrowthLoop SMS appears.
  4. Confirm you can pick Content Studio templates from GrowthLoop Content.
