Kevel
Connect Kevel to GrowthLoop to create or select segments and optionally sync audience membership.
Use Kevel as a GrowthLoop destination to create or select a Kevel User Segment. For member exports, GrowthLoop synchronizes audience membership through Kevel UserDB. You can also choose No exports to create or reuse the segment without delivering audience members. Use the segment in Kevel targeting rules and bid modifiers.
Prerequisites
Before you connect Kevel to GrowthLoop, make sure you have:
- A Kevel account with a Management API key. See Kevel's API authentication documentation.
- Your Kevel network ID from the same account as the Management API key.
- For member exports, a dataset column containing the Kevel
userKeyfor each profile you want to synchronize.
Set up destination
- Navigate to Destinations in the left sidebar.
- Click New Destination.
- Search for Kevel, then click Add Kevel.
- Enter the destination details:
- Destination Name: Enter a name your team will recognize.
- Sync Frequency: Choose the default frequency for exports to this destination.
- API key: Enter your Kevel Management API key. GrowthLoop sends it as the
X-Adzerk-ApiKeyheader. - Network ID: Enter the Kevel network ID associated with the API key.
- Click Create.
GrowthLoop validates the API key against Kevel's Management API before creating the destination.
Export to destination
- Open an Audience and click Export Audience.
- Select the Kevel destination.
- Under Export Inclusion Criteria, choose how GrowthLoop should handle audience members:
- Select a member-export option to synchronize audience membership through Kevel UserDB.
- Select No exports to create or reuse the Kevel segment, store its external ID, and deliver no audience-member data. This option does not require a match field and does not create a recurring member-export schedule.
- For member exports, under Configure Match Field Settings, map Kevel User Key to the dataset column containing each profile's Kevel
userKey. - Under User Segment Status, choose how GrowthLoop should resolve the Kevel segment:
- New: GrowthLoop looks for a segment with the Audience name. If it does not find one, GrowthLoop creates a segment using the Kevel Create Segment API.
- Existing: Enter the existing Kevel Segment ID. GrowthLoop uses the selected segment as-is and does not rename or modify it.
- For member exports, configure the export schedule and other settings. No exports is a one-time segment setup and does not recur for member delivery.
- Click Export.
Kevel networks support up to 1,000 segments. When your network has reached that limit, choose Existing and provide the ID of a segment that you want to use. After the export is created, you can view the resulting Kevel Segment ID in the export's Manage modal in GrowthLoop.
How membership sync works
For member exports, GrowthLoop sends membership changes to Kevel UserDB:
- Added profiles are added to the selected segment.
- Removed profiles are removed from the selected segment.
- The
userKeyis passed exactly as it appears in your dataset. Kevel does not normalize it. - Rows without a
userKeyare skipped.
GrowthLoop does not generate or discover Kevel userKey values. Your dataset must already contain the identifier used by your Kevel ad-serving or personalization workflow.
When No exports is selected, GrowthLoop does not send member data to Kevel UserDB. The export only creates or reuses the segment and stores its external ID.
Verify the export
- In Kevel, open User Segments and find the segment associated with your GrowthLoop Audience.
- Confirm that the segment ID matches the ID selected or created during export.
- Check the Audience's Exports tab in GrowthLoop to confirm that the export completed.
- For member exports, verify that a test profile's segment membership is present in Kevel UserDB. For No exports, do not expect audience members to appear in UserDB.
NoteTo use the segment for delivery decisions, configure it in the relevant Kevel targeting or bid-modifier rule after the export completes.
Congrats on successfully connecting Kevel as a destination!
