Note

SAP Emarsys Syncs update contact records. They do not add or remove contacts from an Emarsys contact list. To manage contact list membership, export an Audience to the SAP Emarsys destination.

Prerequisites

Before you create an SAP Emarsys Sync, make sure you have:

  • A configured SAP Emarsys destination in GrowthLoop.
  • A Dataset that contains the customer fields you want to sync.
  • A stable identifier field, such as email, that can match records from your warehouse to SAP Emarsys contacts.
  • The SAP Emarsys contact fields you want to update. GrowthLoop loads available contact fields from your SAP Emarsys account.

Create and configure sync

  1. Navigate to Syncs in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Create Sync in the upper right corner.
  3. Enter the following Sync details:
    1. Sync Name: Enter a clear name for the Sync.
    2. Sync Frequency: Choose how often GrowthLoop should sync data to SAP Emarsys.
    3. Update Rule: Choose how GrowthLoop should write records to SAP Emarsys.
      • Insert: Create new contacts only.
      • Update: Update existing contacts only.
      • Insert or update: Create contacts when they do not exist and update contacts when they already exist.
    4. Dataset / Table: Select the Dataset that contains the contact attributes you want to sync.
    5. Match Field: Select the source column used to identify contacts.
    6. Dataset Unique Field: Select the column with unique values for each source record.
    7. Connection: Select your SAP Emarsys destination.
    8. Object Type: Select Contacts.
  4. Click Save Sync.
  5. Add field mappings for the contact fields you want to sync:
    1. Under Source, select a column from your Dataset.
    2. Under Destination, select the matching SAP Emarsys contact field.
    3. Click Add Mapping for each additional contact attribute.
  6. Confirm that your identifier field is mapped. For most Syncs, map your source email column to the SAP Emarsys email field.
  7. Click Update Sync.
  8. Choose whether to apply the changes to future updates only or backfill existing synced records.
  9. Turn on the Sync using the toggle at the top of the page.

Verify your sync

After the Sync runs, open SAP Emarsys and search for a contact you expected GrowthLoop to update. Confirm that the mapped contact fields were created or updated with values from your warehouse.

Congrats on successfully creating a SAP Emarsys Sync!
